After surgery, serious illness or injury, good rehabilitation is essential for a full recovery. We guide you step by step, at your own pace, back to your desired activity level, with personal guidance and close communication with your treating physician.
Have you had surgery that requires rehabilitation, or do you have an injury that requires you to work on strength or fitness? Then Fysiotherapie Wennekers is the right place for you. Together with you, we strive to ensure that you do not retain any lasting limitation from your surgery or condition.
We work together with gym Vrouwfit to offer you a tailor-made training programme with professional equipment. In consultation, we draw up a rehabilitation programme that is most ideal and suitable for you. We start with a thorough intake interview and a number of initial tests: respiratory muscle strength, fitness, muscle strength and ADL function, after which the physiotherapist draws up a personal programme.
Pre-operative rehabilitation is also possible: people who are already in good physical condition before surgery recover faster and better. This shortens the duration of the rehabilitation programme after surgery and ensures you are fitter when you enter the operating theatre. Feel free to ask us about the possibilities.

We also help people with chronic conditions and pain from arthritis in the hip, knee or other joints. We create an optimal rehabilitation schedule to reduce pain and increase load capacity. This means that surgery is often not immediately necessary. Pre-operative rehabilitation can also significantly shorten the recovery period after eventual surgery.
Fysiotherapie Wennekers specialises in treating the consequences of oncological procedures. Research shows how important it is to maintain fitness during and after intensive cancer treatments. Results include: less fatigue, better overall fitness, healthier body weight and composition, improved mental wellbeing, higher quality of life and better coping.
After surgeries such as knee, hip or shoulder replacement, fractures or after hospitalisation, we guide you step by step back to your previous level. For each individual, we assess what is best at that time and draw up an appropriate rehabilitation schedule to optimally promote your recovery process.
With lung damage, normal functioning is already a major challenge. We ensure that you can continue to move for as long as possible and with as little energy as possible. The programme lasts a minimum of 3 months with two training sessions per week. In addition to fitness and muscle-strengthening exercises, you learn the correct breathing techniques, breath awareness and relaxation techniques.
If you have been seriously ill from COVID-19, intensive rehabilitation is beneficial, even if you were not hospitalised. Complaints may include: lung function problems, muscle weakness, reduced fitness, joint pain, fatigue, concentration problems, depression and PTSD. We draw up a tailor-made treatment plan so that you can quickly resume your daily activities.

We start with a thorough intake interview and measurements: respiratory muscle strength, fitness, muscle strength and ADL function, to get a complete picture of your situation and goals.
Targeted inspiratory muscle training to improve lung function and endurance, particularly relevant for COPD, COVID and oncological rehabilitation.
Building muscle strength that has been lost due to illness, surgery or inactivity. Carried out with professional equipment through our partnership with Vrouwfit.
Exercises aimed at restoring daily living skills (ADL), improving balance and reducing the risk of falling.
Gradual build-up of endurance, fully adapted to your pace and capabilities at that point in the programme.
Guidance on movement, nutrition and recovery in daily life, including promoting a healthy body weight and composition, to ensure results are maintained at home as well.

Answers to the most common questions about Rehabilitation
This varies per situation. After surgery, rehabilitation often begins within a few days under supervision of the hospital team. Outpatient rehabilitation with us starts as soon as you are medically stable and there is approval from your treating specialist.

“Kind and attentive man, even though physio massages do hurt a little of course. Knows when something is beyond his scope — such as a herniated disc that cannot be resolved through physiotherapy — and is honest about it. Great guy!”
“Due to my ADHD I find it very difficult to keep up with exercises at home. In the past I had become enormously frustrated with physiotherapy and had almost given up. Thanks to Menno I have regained that confidence. He is very good at keeping it fun and challenging and is able to work around my limitations. Because of that I genuinely enjoy going to him and I am seeing noticeable results!”
“I am so glad to have found Menno! He thinks along really well, has a lot of knowledge and I can usually get an appointment quickly. Highly recommended!”
